What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Data Engineer with a strong focus on data migration testing and data quality to help validate the movement of data from several PostgreSQL and other databases into our centralized data warehouse. This role ensures that the right data is delivered accurately, consistently, and ready to support mission-critical analytics and operational workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Data Migration & Validation
Testing and validation of data migration from multiple Postgres and other databases into the centralized data warehouse - Develop comprehensive test plans for comparing source and target datasets, verifying completeness, correctness, transformations, and referential integrity.
- Conduct reconciliation using advanced SQL, profiling tools, and automated comparison scripts.
- Investigate, document, and escalate discrepancies; work with engineering, QA and Data teams to drive resolution.
- Support ETL / ELT Development
- Collaborate closely with data engineers to test and validate models, ingestion pipelines, and transformation logic.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues
- Support performance tuning and optimization of SQL transformations.
- Data Quality & Governance
- Define and implement reusable data quality checks (e.g., null checks, uniqueness constraints, business rule validation).
- Build automated testing frameworks using tools such as Cursor, custom Python utilities.
- Maintain clear documentation including data mappings, lineage, and testing artifacts to support auditable and compliant systems.
- Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Clinical Operations, and Analytics teams to understand data requirements and downstream use cases.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and findings in a clear and structured way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure migrated datasets fully support patient onboarding, provider workflows, and trial-matching intelligence.
What You Bring
- 3–5+ years of experience in data engineering, data quality engineering, or data migration roles.
- Advanced SQL proficiency, especially in PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and analytic functions.
- Hands-on experience validating or testing large-scale data migrations or multi-source integrations.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tooling
- Familiarity with modern cloud data warehouses
- Strong understanding of data modeling: star schema, normalization, SCD patterns, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting validation or automated testing.
- Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to data accuracy and completeness.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with automated data testing frameworks
- Background in healthcare data, PHI handling, or regulated environments.
- Experience with master data management or consolidating disparate operational systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD workflows and version control via GitHub
